Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is an online consultation?

This is a way of contacting the practice with your queries, without having to wait in telephone queues. This is a secure online system, where only the practice can see your requests. You can complete an online consultation for anything you feel you need support with, from needing a face-to-face appointment with the doctor to requesting a sick note.

2. If I arrive late for my appointment, will I still be seen?

Appointments are held for a maximum of ten minutes, however we do ask that you please contact us if you are running late, so that we can let the clinician know.

3. What If I can’t attend my appointment?

If you need to cancel your appointment, please let our reception team know so that we can offer this to another patient. You can do this by calling us on 01527 69261 to speak to a receptionist and cancel or re-arrange your appointment. The other option is to leave a voicemail with your name and date of birth, by selecting telephone option 2. This method will also avoid long queues.

4. How will I be informed of my test results?

As we receive a high number of results in one day, we are not able to contact everyone individually. We recommend that you please contact us a week after the test, to ask for your result. If your result is not within normal range, the GP will add a comment for our receptionists to know that an action is required and you may be contacted sooner.

5. Why do I need a morning appointment for a blood test?

We arrange blood tests before 2:30pm each day, as the samples are collected at this time to be transferred to the laboratory. This is because many samples are not suitable for overnight storage.

6. What do I do when the surgery is closed?

Our surgery is open from 08:00am until 18:30pm, Monday to Friday. If you feel your need an appointment and it is out of these times, please contact us the next working day at 08:30am to

request a same day appointment. On the other hand, if you need urgent medical assistance before we open again, please contact 111. This is the out of hours service where you will be offered advice or arrangements made for you to see a doctor. In an emergency, please call 999.
