Dr Alan Ritchie

We learned with great sadness of the death of Dr Alan Ritchie who will be fondly remembered by many. He died after a brief illness on the 28th March at home and surrounded by his family. Alan was the senior partner when I joined the practice in 1990, having already been with the practice for over 25 years. All who worked with him remember his wit and wisdom. I was particularly grateful to him and to Barbara his wife for taking me under their wing in my early years in the practice.

Alan was a great source of help and inspiration, and whenever I had need to ask him about a patient I had seen he could tell me their family story, often going back two or three generations, and his guidance was always of great help with their present problem. I will remember him most for his wisdom, but also for his unfailing good humour, and his love of the golf course, an occasional wee dram, and his evident care and compassion for his fellow man.

If you would like to convey messages of condolence we would be very pleased to pass them on.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Barbara, Chris and Dawn and their wider family.

Welcome To Our Practice

Elgar House is an Edwardian Building of great substance and character.  Formerly an Employment Exchange, its Northern aspect was the drill hall for the Royal North Worcestershire Regiment

The Practice formed from the merger of two long established Practices which moved to Smallwood Health Centre in 1973.  Elgar House, converted and extended, became our base in 1993.

Our aim is to assist our patients to achieve a state of well being, using the best primary and secondary health care available to us.

Electronic Prescription Service

The Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) is an NHS service. It gives you the chance to change how the practice sends your prescription to the place you choose to get your medicines or appliances from.

What does this mean for you?

If you currently collect your repeat prescriptions from the surgery you will not have to visit the surgery to pick up your paper prescription. Instead, your GP will send it electronically to the place you choose, saving you time.

You will have more choice about where to get your medicines from because they can be collected from a pharmacy near to where you live, work or shop. Please visit the pharmacy of your choice and nominate them to collect your prescription.
