Cervical Smear Testing

Why should I have this?

Having a smear test is really important to book from the age of 25, as this picks up early warning signs of any problems, giving time for a safe and effective cure. We recommend that all our female patients should have a smear performed every 3 years from age 25 – 49 and every 5 years from 50 – 64. The purpose of this test is to prevent cancer of the cervix. This is a simple, quick and painless test to check the health of your cervix and the nurses try to make the procedure as easy as possible. This appointment doesn’t take very long at all, so please do not be put off from having it done.
